Our accreditations
Being trustworthy and offering high-quality services is important to us. Here are some of our accreditations and memberships demonstrating our commitment to transparency, quality, and effectiveness.
A trustworthy charity
In 2022, we were awarded the Trusted Charity Mark by the NCVO in recognition of our excellence as one of the UK’s largest pregnancy support charities.
The Trusted Charity Standard is a nationally recognised quality mark that tells you that Life is credible and working effectively and efficiently.
The best start for life
The early years are crucial for parents and children. Life’s work supports the Government’s 1,001 Days initiative, which aims to promote child and parent wellbeing from conception to two years after birth.
As the Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood says, supporting the child starts with supporting the parents. Life’s services are carefully designed to meet their emotional and practical needs so they can flourish along with their children.
Enabling whole-person health in our clients
Life’s working with a mental health partnership and a psychological trauma consultancy to implement the Trauma Informed Approach in our Houses and across our services.
The team are currently trained to the Gold Level and are transforming the way we work with clients to better set the environment for them to flourish.
The Trauma Informed Approach develops the whole-person health that’s essential for integrating motherhood and pregnancy into our lives. Without this foundation, the journey is a lot harder, which can have adverse impacts on the mum and child’s health and relationship.
Using the Trauma Informed Approach, we empower clients to live and parent wholeheartedly, develop authentic and lasting relationships, understand their personal power and responsibility, establish themselves in their community, and to build their strength, resilience, and empathy.
Excellence in listening services
Life is an associate member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and we adhere to their Ethical Framework.
We’re members of the Helplines Partnership and their Helplines Freephone Range.
We’re also an NCFE-accredited centre of excellence delivering counselling training. Since 2020, we’ve had Direct Claims Status (DCS), the highest distinction.
Supporting through pregnancy loss
Life is a member of the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance, an alliance of 120+ UK charities and organisations working to increase support for pregnancy loss. Its working group members include Sands, Bliss, the Miscarriage Association, and Tommy’s.
Life has signed the Miscarriage Association’s Pregnancy Loss Pledge. This means that, along with 240+ UK organisations, we’ve committed to ensuring support and empathy for every member of our staff affected by pregnancy loss.
Ethical and transparent fundraising
Life’s a member of the Fundraising Regulator and we adhere to their Fundraising Code.
